Following our last event, we were asked by the Village of Cumberland to apply for a Noise Exception Permit after receiving a couple of noise complaints. At the time, we were given the impression that this would be a fairly straightforward process and would simply put the appropriate permit in place going forward.
We’ve spent the last several days doing everything we could to find a solution, including working with the property owner and reaching out to the Village, but unfortunately we’ve run out of time and options for this one.
We’re genuinely heartbroken about it.
The whole idea behind the Abstract Audio Summer Series was to do something a little different for our community: bring people together outdoors around music and make it completely free, so that everyone could be part of it regardless of their circumstances.
Watching people come together at the first two events—friends, neighbours, familiar faces and people we had never met before—was exactly why we wanted to do this in the first place.
We know not everyone will love what we do, and we respect that. But we’re incredibly disappointed that we won’t get the chance to bring everyone together again on August 15.
The good news is that Abstract Audio isn’t stopping.

As for the free Summer Series, we’re going to regroup and figure out what might be possible going forward. We really hope this isn’t the end of it, because we believe accessible community events like these are worth fighting for.
To everyone who came out, danced with us, brought friends, supported the artists and helped create such a positive atmosphere at these events: thank you.
You’re the reason we wanted to keep doing them.
This one hurts, but we’ll keep moving forward.
